Dholera Special Investment Region (SIR) continues to attract major global technology investments with Jabil, a leading US-based electronics manufacturing services company, announcing plans to set up a ₹1,000 crore silicon photonics manufacturing facility in the region. The proposed investment marks a major milestone in Dholera’s evolution as a hub for advanced electronics and next-generation technologies.

Silicon photonics is a critical enabling technology for high-speed data transmission, artificial intelligence, cloud computing, and advanced semiconductor applications. Jabil’s decision to establish this facility in Dholera highlights the region’s growing appeal as a destination for cutting-edge manufacturing aligned with India’s semiconductor and electronics ambitions.

The planned facility is expected to support the production of silicon photonics components used in data centers, telecom infrastructure, AI hardware, and high-performance computing systems. This positions Dholera not just as a manufacturing base, but as a strategic node in the global high-tech supply chain.

Jabil’s investment aligns closely with India’s broader push to strengthen domestic electronics manufacturing and reduce reliance on imports. It also complements major semiconductor developments in Dholera, including large-scale chip fabrication and advanced packaging projects, creating strong synergies within the region’s industrial ecosystem.

Dholera’s world-class infrastructure — including plug-and-play industrial zones, expressway connectivity, planned port and airport access, and policy support from both the central and Gujarat governments — has played a key role in attracting global investors like Jabil. Incentives under India’s electronics and semiconductor policies further enhance the region’s competitiveness for advanced manufacturing.

The project is expected to generate significant high-skill employment opportunities, attract ancillary suppliers, and accelerate knowledge transfer in advanced photonics and semiconductor-related technologies. Over time, this investment is likely to contribute to the development of a robust innovation and manufacturing cluster in Dholera.

With Jabil’s entry, Dholera SIR strengthens its position as one of India’s most promising destinations for semiconductors, electronics, and future-ready technologies, reinforcing its role in the country’s global manufacturing ambitions.
