Dholera’s Role Highlighted in Gujarat’s 2026 Industrial Roadmap
Gandhinagar, Gujarat — Dholera Special Investment Region (DSIR) has been prominently featured in Gujarat’s 2026 industrial roadmap as a core pillar of the state’s long-term economic and industrial strategy. Government planning emphasizes Dholera’s transformation into a global manufacturing and technology hub, with advanced infrastructure, integrated industrial zones, and strategic connectivity positioning it as a growth engine for the region.
Spanning approximately 920 sq km, the Dholera SIR is India’s first planned greenfield smart industrial city, jointly developed by the Government of Gujarat and the Government of India under the Special Investment Region framework. The strategic location near major transport corridors, including the Ahmedabad–Dholera Expressway and proximity to the Dedicated Freight Corridor (DFC), underscores its role in national and state industrial logistics planning.
In the state’s 2026 budget and industrial policy documents, significant allocations — including roughly ₹40,000 crore for semiconductor, MSME, logistics, and future-ready infrastructure — highlight Dholera as a focal point for high-technology and manufacturing investments. This financial push aligns with Gujarat’s aim to attract global semiconductor value-chain participants and expand electronics, green energy, and advanced manufacturing industries.
Dholera’s emerging Semicon City ecosystem — highlighted by major investments such as the ₹91,000 crore Tata Electronics semiconductor fabrication plant — is central to Gujarat’s industrial vision. By providing plug-and-play industrial parks, robust power and logistics infrastructure, and streamlined approvals, Dholera is positioned to generate hundreds of thousands of high-skill jobs and anchor future export-driven growth.
Government planning documents reinforce that Dholera’s development goes beyond industrial land to include integrated urban infrastructure, residential zones, and sustainability projects co-located with economic clusters. Recent state reviews have highlighted near-completion of core infrastructure such as expressways, renewable power parks, water treatment plants, and communication networks within the Activation Area and broader SIR.
Authorities articulate Dholera’s long-term contribution to Gujarat’s broader economic targets — including positioning the state as a global manufacturing and export powerhouse — while also dovetailing with national initiatives like the India Semiconductor Mission 2.0, which provides enhanced policy support for electronics and chip manufacturing ecosystems.
As the roadmap extends toward 2047 and beyond, Dholera is seen not only as a hub for industry and employment but also as a model for future smart cities that integrate sustainable planning with economic competitiveness.
