Railway project activities around Dholera continue to progress, with final location surveys currently being carried out for the proposed Bhavnagar–Dholera railway line. The project is a key component of long-term transport planning for Dholera Smart City and the wider Dholera Special Investment Region (SIR), aimed at strengthening regional connectivity and supporting future urban growth.

Railway authorities and technical consultants are conducting detailed alignment surveys to identify the most feasible and efficient rail corridor. These surveys cover land feasibility, soil conditions, environmental considerations, and technical integration with existing railway infrastructure, while also focusing on minimizing land acquisition challenges and project delays.

Once finalized and implemented, the Bhavnagar–Dholera rail link is expected to significantly improve passenger movement between Dholera, coastal Gujarat, and major urban centers such as Ahmedabad and Bhavnagar. In addition, the line will serve as a critical freight corridor, enabling smooth transportation of raw materials and finished goods for manufacturing units, logistics hubs, and export-oriented industries in the region.

The railway line is being planned in close coordination with other major infrastructure developments, including the Ahmedabad–Dholera Expressway, the upcoming Dholera International Airport, and proposed port connectivity projects. This multi-modal transport strategy is designed to reduce logistics costs, improve supply-chain efficiency, and enhance the overall ease of doing business in Dholera.

The Bhavnagar–Dholera railway project forms an important part of Dholera’s broader development vision under the Delhi–Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC) initiative. Industry experts believe that improved rail connectivity will boost investor confidence, support large-scale industrial expansion, and provide reliable commuting options for the growing workforce expected to relocate to Dholera in the coming years, further strengthening its position as an emerging industrial and logistics hub.
