Inox Air Products (Inox AP), one of India’s leading manufacturers of industrial and specialty gases, has commenced the construction of a ₹500-crore Specialty Gas Hub at Dholera in Gujarat. This state-of-the-art facility is set to play a key role in powering India’s fast-emerging semiconductor manufacturing ecosystem, aligning with the nation’s “Make in India” and “Semicon India” missions.

The new hub will focus on producing and supplying Ultra High Purity (UHP) bulk and specialty gases such as nitrogen, oxygen, argon, and hydrogen. These gases are essential for advanced semiconductor fabrication, display panel manufacturing, and other electronic applications that demand extremely high levels of purity and reliability.

According to company officials, the Dholera facility has been strategically located to support the semiconductor ecosystem being developed around Tata Electronics and other technology-driven investments in the region. The project will cater to the increasing demand for high-purity gases used in chip production and other precision-based electronic processes, significantly reducing India’s dependence on imported specialty gases.

Siddharth Jain, Managing Director of Inox Group, stated that the company has been planning this project for more than two years to meet the growing domestic and international demand for high-purity gases. He added that once operational, the facility will not only serve India’s semiconductor industry but will also help in exporting select gas mixtures to global technology hubs.

The new hub is expected to become operational within the next 12 to 18 months, with phased investments being made over the next few years. The facility will feature advanced storage, distribution, and gas purification systems to ensure consistent quality and uninterrupted supply to semiconductor manufacturers and research institutions.

Initially, the plant will focus on producing core ultra-high-purity gases, while gradually expanding its portfolio to include complex specialty gas mixtures that are currently imported. This phased approach will allow Inox AP to localize gas production that is critical for industries such as electronics, photovoltaics, and display manufacturing.

Industry experts view this development as a significant step toward strengthening India’s semiconductor value chain. With the government actively promoting the establishment of fabrication and assembly units through its Production Linked Incentive (PLI) schemes, the demand for reliable gas supply infrastructure has risen sharply. The Dholera gas hub by Inox AP is expected to fill a vital gap by providing consistent, high-quality gas solutions within the country.

Inox Air Products already operates over 50 manufacturing facilities across India and supplies gases to a wide range of sectors including healthcare, metallurgy, food processing, and chemicals. The addition of this new facility in Dholera will expand its portfolio into the high-growth semiconductor and electronics sectors, marking a major milestone in the company’s strategic growth plans.

Once operational, the facility will also contribute to India’s export potential in the field of electronic-grade gases. By building advanced purification and distribution infrastructure, Inox AP aims to position itself as a regional hub for high-purity gas technology, enabling India to compete more effectively with global manufacturing centers in East Asia and Europe.

This landmark project highlights India’s accelerating efforts to establish a self-sufficient semiconductor ecosystem and reduce critical supply chain dependencies. With Inox AP’s expertise and commitment to innovation, the Dholera Specialty Gas Hub is expected to become a cornerstone for the nation’s next phase of industrial and technological growth.
