Industrial and electronic gases major INOX Air Products (INOXAP) has officially begun construction of its new specialty gas manufacturing hub in the Dholera Special Investment Region (SIR). This project marks a major milestone in India’s journey toward building a complete and self-reliant semiconductor ecosystem.

The new facility, being developed with an investment of around ₹500 crore, will produce and supply ultra-high-purity gases such as nitrogen, oxygen, argon, and hydrogen — all of which are critical components in chip fabrication and advanced electronics production.

Company officials confirmed that construction work has already commenced, and the plant is expected to be operational within 12 to 18 months. Once completed, this will become one of India’s most advanced gas production facilities dedicated to the semiconductor industry.

The Dholera site was chosen because of its world-class infrastructure, direct connectivity to expressways and ports, and proximity to other upcoming high-tech projects such as Tata Electronics’ semiconductor fabrication plant.

INOX Air Products Managing Director Siddharth Jain said that the company aims to make India self-reliant in electronic specialty gases that were previously imported. The Dholera hub will serve as a central supply base for semiconductor, solar, and display manufacturing units planned across Gujarat and other states.

He added that this project aligns with the government’s “Make in India” and “Atmanirbhar Bharat” initiatives, helping reduce dependency on imports and strengthening the supply chain for India’s rapidly growing technology sector.

With this investment, INOX Air Products becomes the first industrial-gas company to establish a dedicated semiconductor-focused gas hub in Dholera. The facility will not only cater to domestic demand but may also serve export markets in the future once production scales up.

Experts believe this development will further boost Dholera’s status as India’s next big manufacturing hub, especially in semiconductors, electronics, and advanced materials. The gas hub will create direct and indirect employment opportunities and support ancillary industries that rely on high-purity gases.
