Gujarat has taken another step in expanding its semiconductor and electronics manufacturing ecosystem with Cabinet approval for two new technology related projects in Dholera and Surat. The approvals are linked to semiconductor manufacturing, chip packaging, and advanced electronics production under India’s growing semiconductor development plans.

One of the approved projects is planned in Dholera Special Investment Region, while the second project will be developed in Surat. Together, the projects are expected to strengthen Gujarat’s position within India’s semiconductor and electronics manufacturing sector.

According to available project details, the combined investment value of both projects is estimated at around ₹3,936 crore. The developments are also expected to create skilled employment opportunities related to electronics manufacturing and semiconductor operations.

The Dholera project is linked to Crystal Matrix Limited and is associated with advanced display and semiconductor related manufacturing activities. The facility is expected to focus on Mini and Micro LED display technologies, which are used in modern electronic displays, automotive systems, smart devices, and industrial applications.

Industry experts believe that projects of this nature require strong infrastructure support, including stable power supply, logistics connectivity, industrial utilities, and planned manufacturing zones. Dholera is increasingly receiving attention because of its industrial planning and infrastructure focused development model.

The second approved project involves an OSAT facility in Surat. OSAT refers to outsourced semiconductor assembly and testing, which is an important part of the semiconductor manufacturing supply chain. These facilities are used for chip packaging, testing, and preparing semiconductor components for commercial applications.

The Surat project is expected to support sectors such as electronics, industrial equipment, automotive systems, and consumer devices. Semiconductor assembly and testing infrastructure is considered important for building a broader domestic semiconductor ecosystem in India.

The approvals also reflect continued efforts to strengthen semiconductor manufacturing capabilities under national industrial development initiatives. Gujarat has been attracting semiconductor and electronics related investment due to planned industrial infrastructure and policy support.

Projects such as the Ahmedabad Dholera Expressway, the proposed Dholera International Airport, and the Delhi Mumbai Industrial Corridor are expected to improve industrial connectivity in the region and support future manufacturing activity.

Dholera has already gained attention because of ongoing semiconductor related developments, including large scale manufacturing proposals and industrial infrastructure planning. The latest approvals further increase the region’s visibility within India’s technology manufacturing sector.

Industry observers note that semiconductor and electronics manufacturing projects often encourage the growth of supporting sectors such as logistics, warehousing, industrial services, and workforce related infrastructure. However, experts also advise that investment decisions should be based on verified project information, legal due diligence, and long term planning considerations.

As semiconductor manufacturing activity continues to expand in India, Gujarat is gradually strengthening its role as an important location for electronics and advanced manufacturing development.
