Dholera Smart City is increasingly attracting interest from semiconductor supply chain companies that are looking to establish ancillary and support units near upcoming fabrication facilities. Industry sources indicate that several manufacturers of components, materials, and equipment have shortlisted Dholera Special Investment Region (SIR) as a potential base to serve India’s growing semiconductor ecosystem.

These firms include suppliers of semiconductor-grade chemicals, gases, wafers, packaging materials, cleanroom equipment, and testing solutions. Proximity to large fabrication plants is considered critical for semiconductor operations, and Dholera’s master-planned industrial zones offer the scale and infrastructure required for such high-precision industries.

Officials familiar with the developments stated that companies are assessing industrial land availability, power reliability, water quality, logistics access, and regulatory support before making final investment decisions. Dholera’s plug-and-play infrastructure, along with policy incentives under India’s semiconductor programs, has made the region a preferred choice for supply chain clustering.

The interest in ancillary units is aligned with the broader push to create an integrated semiconductor manufacturing ecosystem rather than standalone fabs. By encouraging suppliers to locate nearby, the ecosystem can reduce import dependency, shorten supply chains, and improve operational efficiency.

Dholera’s strategic location within the Delhi–Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC), combined with the Ahmedabad–Dholera Expressway and the upcoming international airport, is seen as a major advantage for logistics and time-sensitive deliveries.

Industry analysts believe that the entry of supply chain firms will significantly boost employment, attract skilled talent, and strengthen Dholera’s role as a long-term semiconductor manufacturing hub. The clustering effect is also expected to encourage further foreign and domestic investments in advanced electronics and related sectors.
