Dholera Smart City experienced a major infrastructure transformation in 2025, marking what many analysts describe as an infrastructure renaissance that moved the region from planning to visible, operational groundwork across multiple sectors.

One of the standout developments was the near completion of the Ahmedabad–Dholera Expressway, a 109-kilometre six-lane expressway expected to be inaugurated later in the year. This expressway will reduce travel time between Ahmedabad and Dholera to roughly 45–60 minutes, vastly improving connectivity for commuters, logistics networks, and industrial traffic.

On the energy front, Dholera’s renewable power infrastructure advanced significantly with the Dholera Solar Park commissioning over 1,200 MW of capacity toward a planned 5,000 MW target. This clean energy deployment provides reliable, low-carbon power for semiconductor fabs, manufacturing units, and smart city utilities — a key requirement for high-intensity industrial operations.

The infrastructure backbone was further strengthened by the ABCD Building, now fully operational as the centralized administrative and investor facilitation center, streamlining approvals, clearances, and coordination for incoming businesses.

Smart city features also moved from concept to reality. IoT-enabled urban systems have been rolled out across the Activation Zone, where sensors monitor traffic flows, air quality, water usage, and infrastructure health. A centralized Integrated Command and Control Centre now unifies traffic signals, emergency response, utility services, and public safety systems on a single dashboard — illustrating the operational maturity of Dholera’s smart infrastructure.

Major industrial and investment announcements were integral to the 2025 renaissance. Over ₹2.5 lakh crore in committed mega investments transformed Dholera into a prime manufacturing and semiconductor hub. Notable commitments include a ₹91,000 crore semiconductor fabrication facility by Tata Electronics (with international partners), expansion by global suppliers such as Tokyo Electron, and additional advanced manufacturing projects from firms like NextGen and Jabil.

Airport and logistics infrastructure also saw notable progress. The Dholera International Airport project advanced toward its targeted completion, expected to serve both passenger and cargo operations, cementing Dholera as a multi-modal connectivity hub when combined with the expressway and future rail links.

Sustainability was embedded into planning as well. The Solar Park’s clean energy integration, advanced water recycling and rainwater harvesting systems, and environmental monitoring frameworks elevated Dholera’s development beyond industrial infrastructure to holistic urban sustainability.

With these developments, residential and commercial real estate sectors began reflecting the on-ground transformation. Planned townships, homes near major infrastructure corridors, and real estate investment interest grew as the city transitioned from speculative land markets to actual urban development with functioning roads, utilities, and economic activity.

Overall, 2025 proved to be a pivotal year for Dholera — shifting it from a conceptual smart city into an operational ecosystem, ready to support industry growth, urban living, and global investment flows, laying the foundation for continued expansion in the years ahead.
