Dholera SIR Reports Growth of Over 3,200 Trees Through Innovative Plantation Initiative

Dholera Special Investment Region (SIR) has reported progress in a plantation initiative aimed at increasing green cover in an area known for challenging environmental conditions. The project has helped establish thousands of trees on land affected by high soil salinity and seasonal waterlogging.

The initiative was supported by the Dholera Special Investment Region Development Authority (DSIRDA) and implemented by the Ahmedabad Social Forestry Division of the Gujarat Forest Department. Plantation activities were carried out in Block No. 29 of Dholera SIR, where vegetation growth has historically been difficult due to adverse soil conditions.

According to reported information, more than 3,200 trees representing multiple species have been planted as part of the project. Authorities adopted a specialized plantation method designed to improve survival rates in saline environments and support long-term tree growth.

Dholera's coastal geography presents several environmental challenges, including saline soil, limited organic content, intense heat, and prolonged periods of water accumulation during certain seasons. These conditions often make traditional plantation methods less effective.

To address these challenges, officials implemented a drum-based plantation technique. The method involves planting saplings within specially prepared containers filled with layers of soil, organic material, and other growth-supporting components. The approach is intended to protect young plants from direct exposure to highly saline soil while creating a more suitable growing environment.

The plantation initiative is among the recent environmental developments reported from Dholera SIR and reflects ongoing efforts to increase green cover alongside infrastructure and industrial development in the region.
