Dholera International Airport has reached an important development milestone after a reported trial landing by an Airports Authority of India aircraft. The update reflects steady progress in the airport project and has become a key highlight for Dholera Smart City’s infrastructure growth.

The airport is being developed near Dholera Special Investment Region and is expected to support both passenger and cargo movement in the coming years. As per official government information, the airport was planned to begin operations from 2025–26, with initial passenger traffic estimated at 3 lakh passengers per year and annual cargo traffic estimated at 20,000 tonnes.

This trial landing is important because it indicates progress in runway readiness, safety checks and aviation infrastructure testing. Once operational, Dholera International Airport is expected to improve regional connectivity, support industrial projects and strengthen Dholera’s position as a future-ready smart city and logistics hub.

The development is also significant for investors, industries and businesses tracking Dholera SIR, as better air connectivity can support faster movement of people, goods and high-value industrial cargo.
